About Aeraturf

Owner Richard brings with him the wisdom and experience to
handle countless turf maintenance solutions for the past 26years

Our Owner and Operations Manager Richard Stephenson has been in the turf industry for the last 26 years.

Richard starting off as a side gig to supplement his greenkeeping, Richard Stephenson has always found himself doing extra bits and bobs in the turf industry.

From Turf shaving, Cricket Curating to now his finesse in laser levelling, Richard has loved widening his skillset within the turf industry.

We’ll get back to the laser levelling soon, but for now let’s continue to give you an insight into how “Aeraturf” evolved into what it is today.

While Richard has experience in numerous turf surfaces such as golf, croquet, cricket and Sports Fields, he found that his persistence and attention to detail is what set him up for a long-term career maintaining Bowling Greens.

With 25 years of hard work, determination, and a deep seeded passion for creating exceptional Bowling Green surfaces, Richard really has mastered the longevity of his trade.

Knowing the depth of work and detail within the industry, Richard always comes back to this well know quote by Hal Borland…

“Knowing trees, I understand the meaning of patience. Knowing grass, I can appreciate persistence.”

Networking with several highly skilled and reputable professionals in the field has supported Richards strong value in growth and learning. Always eager to excel, he has tried to learn from the best and produce turf surfaces he’s proud of.

This leads us to tell you about the history of Richard Stephenson and Richard Booth from ‘Hydocore’, a renowned turf professional from Hawks Nest. Back in 2013 Richard Stephenson became a Turf Shave sub-contractor for Richard Booth, and looking back, this is where it all began. Without realising it, the ‘Aearturf’ seed had been planted. (Cringey grass pun intended!) Whether it was the twin names or the aligned work ethic, these two blokes have continued to work together over the years until Boothy decided it was time to hand over the reins.

With great honour, Richard Stephenson took his time to learn the ropes of what was then called “Hydrocore”. Forever grateful for Richard Booth’s guidance and encouragement, “Hydrocore” has slowly transitioned into what we now call “Aeraturf”.

Combining “Hydrocore’s” multiple aeration methods with Richard’s established Laser Levelling Service, we feel this company has really come into its own!
